photogramm on baryta paper, 24x156cm, 2025

A series of photogramms carry a single subtitle. At first, the work appears like a ‘wideframe cinema movie still’. On a closer look it gradually shifts from being part of a fixed script into a guide for the imagination.
The viewer experiences a deprivation of sense: no image where there should be image, no sound where there should be sound, no obvious narrative to follow, only a subtitle. The usual hierarchy is inverted: the supplement becomes the primary.
This work doesn’t just quote Wilde, it performs the transience and ghostliness of the very thing the quote is about.
